RWA Sports Architecture is developing a new Masterplan to introduce live music events to the Shanghai Expo Cultural Park, making it the largest outdoor live music venue in China. The design enhances the park’s natural beauty and cultural value while introducing flexible open-air performance areas with optimal sightlines, acoustics, and audience flow. Pathways, lighting, and gathering zones are planned for safety and accessibility. Temporary event infrastructure is integrated to preserve ecological integrity and support seamless operations. With strong public transport links and weather resilience strategies, the Masterplan will help deliver a memorable and adaptable venue for both community and international performances, reinforcing the park’s role as a premier cultural destination.
‘Sidney Myer Music Bowl Refurbishment’

The Sidney Myer Music Bowl is Arts Centre Melbourne’s versatile, multi-purpose, outdoor venue set in the lush surrounds of Kings Domain; the venue opened in 1959 and had a major redevelopment in 2000. The ‘Bowl’ lights up annually to the winking of candles of Carols by Candlelight, thrums regularly to the beats of massive headline acts and opens its gates for a range of other outdoor events. The Sidney Myer Music Bowl was listed on the National Heritage Register in 2005 as a rare and significant example of a large scale sound shell in the Australian context. RWA were commissioned by Arts Centre Melbourne to assist with a significant refurbishment of the venue. The refurbishment involved the full replacement of the existing seating, aisle lighting and upgrades to wheelchair provisions.

Marchese Partners and RWA Sports Architecture have joined forces to turn Federal MP Ted O’Brien’s vision for major entertainment centre in the Maroochydore CBD into a bold and forwardthinking concept that would provide an entertainment facility to accommodate international standard performing arts such as opera, ballet, musicals, and theatre as well as flexible spaces to be adopted for the Olympics, including a basketball arena which could accommodate up to 6,000 people. The venue would create a post Olympic legacy and add significant value to the community and its people while contextually responding to the region and become a major attractor and destination.
